about Livigno
In the Italian Alps lays a town in the province of Sondrio called Livigno. Since it is remotely located, the nearest cities, like Milan and Zürich, are 200 kms away, and trains and bus prove to be the best options for getting there. Livigno enjoys a particular tax status as a duty-free area. Italian VAT is not applicable. However there is a limited quota of goods that can be taken back.
Visitor’s delight is the Saint Mary's Parish church which was built at the end of the 19th century, upon the former foundations of a previous church. Other buildings of note are the Caravaggio church, with some ex voto paintings and a picture which is traditionally attributed to Caravaggio, and Saint Rocco church, built at the beginning of the 16th century as a votive offering for protecting the village against plague. But the high peaked mountains and gorgeous valleys take the cake when it comes to stunning beauty.
